George Moss Reeves Jr.'s Obituary
George Moss Reeves, Jr. was born July 13, 1930 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He passed Saturday, May 12, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. He was 87.He grew up in Vinita, OK. His education included the Shattuck Military School for boys in Minnesota and the University of Oklahoma where he joined the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. From 1950 to 1954 he was a member of the United States Air Force and was stationed near San Antonio, Texas.Mr. Reeves’ first job was working for Mercantile Bank in Dallas. In 1958 he purchased a triplex, renting out two of the units, thus starting his sixty year career in Real Estate Investing. He owned, managed, and developed both commercial and residential property.Following the steps of his Father, Mr. Reeves was an active member of the Dallas North Rotary. He enjoyed playing tennis, traveling, spending time at his ranch with family, observing nature, driving his antique cars, and playing Parcheesi. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.George was preceded in death by his parents, George Moss Reeves, Sr. and Ollie Mae Keeton Reeves. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Mildred Louise White Reeves; sister, Anne and husband Vincent Carrozza; daughter, Camie Reeves Brickhouse and husband John Blake Brickhouse; son, George Moss Reeves III (Gig) and wife Lindsay Stewart Reeves and their four children: Cameron, Christian, Caiden, and Campbell. He is also survived by step-daughter, Kathy Benzamin, her three daughters and respective spouses, Velvet and Kenny Dow, Sherry and Zachary Hopkins, and Kathryn and Brodie Soliz plus nine great-grandchildren.Services will be held at Restland Funeral Home in the Memorial Chapel, Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Russell Rogers will officiate. Following the service, there will be a short procession to Restland Memorial Park where Mr. Reeves will be laid to rest in the Abbey Estates.The family will receive friends Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m at Restland Funeral Home. Please stop by the reception desk and the funeral home staff will escort you back to state rooms N-O-P.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dallas North Rotary at 4425 Southwestern Blvd., Dallas, TX 75225.
