George Richard "Dick" Holmes' Obituary
Holmes, George Richard “Dick”, was born in Dallas, Texas on April 28, 1948 to George H. Holmes and Helen S. Holmes, and passed away on May 26, 2016 in Plano, Texas. After graduating from Hillcrest High School, he attended Baylor University where he received a BBA and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. On August 23, 1969, he married Jenny Lynn Holmes, to whom he was married for 46 years. Dick was an active, long time member of Gleneagles Country Club, and an avid golfer all of his life. He was a CPA with a specialization in bankruptcy and litigation support. Dick retired as a Partner with Arthur Anderson in 1999. In 2008 he joined Alix Partners, working several years in New York on the Bernard Madoff investment securities case. During his second retirement, he enjoyed traveling, playing cards at the club, playing golf, and being a grandfather. Dick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jenny Holmes, his children, Jennifer Holmes Whitson and husband David, Brooke Holmes Drescher and husband Wes, and his sister Barbara Holmes Hodges and husband Joe. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jake and Joshua Whitson, and William and Anna Drescher. In addition, he leaves many friends who will miss his encouragement, his sense of humor, and his sincere desire to be a blessing to others in his life. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Prestonwood Baptist Church chapel in Plano, Texas. The family will receive friends in the Fireside Room following the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
