George Stanley Rogers' Obituary
Born July 4, 1931, in Danville, Illinois and passed away February 28, 2017, in Dallas, Texas. Preceded in death by his father, George Stanley Rogers and his mother Iva Rose Devine Survived by his loving wife Olive Dell McEfee Rogers (OD), his sons Bruce Reene Rogers and Brian Nelson Rogers. He is further survived by his sister Georgiana Rogers Hlavacek. .George had two grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and one grandson. George Rogers served in the US Army on active duty from 1954 to 1956 was discharged from the reserves in 1962. He is a graduate of James Milliken University of Decatur, Illinois where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and of the Colorado School of Mines located in Golden, Colorado where he received his Professional Degree in Geological Engineering. George was an inducted member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society at the School of Mines. George’s career in oil exploration allowed him in many locations such as Whittier, California; Casper, Wyoming; Adelaide, South Australia and Dallas, Texas his home since 1977. George was a long-time member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists from 1959. He was active in the community in terms of the neighborhood and professional associations and working with others. His later years were spent caring for his loving wife Olive Dell. George Stanley Rogers was the definition of Integrity, Humility, Caring and Love. He is missed by all of his family and his friends A memorial service will be held at the Holiday Inn – Express, Galleria Room 1 located 6055 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75240 (Northeast corner of Preston Road and I-635) Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 2 PM. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors, the Salvation Army or your local Alzheimer’s Association
