Martin (Marty) was the only true love and soul mate of my life. We spent 44 wonderful years together. We loved each other from our first "fancy" date at Arby's. We discovered neither of us had money after eating our roast beef sandwiches. Martin used his charm to convince the manager we would come back later to pay (and we did). I loved him for simple things like this. Martin was my rock in every difficult time I had the last 44 years, I loved him for that and all the other great qualities he had. Martin became a member of my family and all my nieces and nephew grew up with a Uncle Marty in their lives. My Mother and Dad loved him like another son. He will be missed and loved by many, but none greater than by me. Rest in everlasting love and peace Marty. Dee (Manuel)
Marty was a longtime friend of my brother and I had kept in touch with Marty since my brother's death in 2007. I enjoyed our phone calls to catch up on family news. He came to visit us in Michigan last year when he was visiting his family in Kalamazoo. We had some errands to run, so he stayed at our house with our two lapdogs. My last memory of him was him sitting in the recliner watching T.V. with both dogs cuddled on his lap. He looked so relaxed and was enjoying the love the dogs were giving him. Another memory was when my brother was having heart problems and was upset that he needed surgery. Our son worked for Northwest Airlines and could provide Buddy Passes ,so I told Dick that after he recuperated that we would make plans for him and and a traveling comp- anion to go to Ireland a dream of Dick's. Dick and Marty had such a good time. I enjoyed having Marty as a friend to carry on a connection to my brother that we both loved and missed.
