George M. Savage's Obituary
George M. Savage died peacefully at home in Dallas, Texas on September 15, 2017. He was just shy of his 90th birthday. He was born in Ponca City, OK to Orville and Mabel Savage.His early education was at Oklahoma Military Academy where he met many lifelong friends. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he attended The Rice Institute where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering in 1949. After graduation, George rough-necked in Wyoming where he met his wife of fifty-five years, Geneva Carpenter of Casper. Together they raised three children. His work took his family not only to Colorado, Wyoming, Texas and Louisiana, but to Canada, the West Indies, the UK, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. He was respected and honored pioneer in the offshore oil and gas drilling industry.George is survived by his three children Susan, Carol, Scott, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva.
