George Riley Spears' Obituary
George Riley Spears, 90, of Greenville, TX went to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 20, 2011. Services will be at Restland Wildwood Chapel in Dallas, TX, March 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. A Memorial service will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Crossroads Assembly of God Church in Greenville, TX. George was born Sept. 12, 1920 in Dallas, TX to Robert and Bertie Spears. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Ledbetter, on April 25, 1960. He joined the Army Air Corp in Dec. 1941 and served until 1945. He also served in the Naval Reserve Sea Bee Division until 1970. In 1950, he joined The Dallas Police Department and retired in 1972. After retirement he built and remodeled homes for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John, Jerry, Bert and Cecil. George has three sons, George and wife Carolyn, Brian and wife Marlo and David and wife Shelby. He has 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of Crossroads Assembly of God Church in Greenville, TX. Everyone will remember George as a generous, loving man who never had an unkind word about anyone.
