George William Wallis' Obituary
James Randolph Wallis, 91, of Garland, passed from this life in Garland, Texas, on Monday, April 29, 2019, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Restland Funeral Home Abbey Chapel. Mr. Jack Harris will be officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park.Jim was born on January 27, 1928 in Richardson, Texas to Helen Ashby Wallis and R. D. Wallis. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Ann McDonald Wallis.Jim is survived by daughters Barbara Bredemeier and her husband Harold Bredemeier, Beth Terry and her husband James Terry, and Nancy Wallis and her friend Cheryl Musgrave; grandson Kenny Bredemeier; granddaughters Kristen Terry Alford, Robin Terry, and Alyson Terry; and great-grandson Gavin Bredemeier.Jim grew up in Richardson and attended Richardson High School, Class of 1944. After spending a year in the Navy at the end of WWII, he attended SMU, where he received a degree in Business Administration in 1950. Following college graduation, he served in the Air Force for three years. He began at Langley AFB in Virginia, and then went to Donaldson, South Carolina; Greenville, Mississippi; West Palm Beach, Florida; Rhein, Maine; Germany; France; and Italy. Jim attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant while in Europe. Jim worked for Burroughs Adding Machine Company, Graybar Electric Supply in Dallas (where he met his wife), American Desk Manufacturing Company in Temple, and founded the School Equipment Company, and PSI in Temple. Jim and Virginia have lived in many cities in Texas and Colorado, landing in Garland. Jim was a member of New World Methodist Church in Garland. Jim loved to golf, travel in his motorhome, and was a voracious reader. Jim was a loving husband, a supportive father, and a loyal friend. His family still on earth will miss him terribly as he joins his wife and granddaughter in heaven.
