Gerald Richmond Stickney's Obituary
Gerald Richmond Stickney passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Farmers Branch on June 15, 2015, at the age of 100. He was born March 8, 1915, to Edwin I. Stickney and Mabel Myers Stickney in Auburn, NY. He served in the U.S, army with Company I, 71st Infantry Regiment, 44th Division, in the European Theater during WWII, and later as Army Exchange Officer in Korea, Panama, Alaska, and many other posts, retiring after 23 years of active service. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. After retiring from military service in 1965, he became President of Goodwill Industries in Denver, CO, where he retired again in 1977. He then served as financial consultant to Goodwill locations around the country for many years. He is survived by: his wife of 37 years, Geraldine Mahan Stickney, and his children from his marriage to Florence Tracy Stickney: his son, Brian R. Stickney of EI Paso, TX, and his daughter Judy Goodman of Denver, CO. He has three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his four siblings: brother, Holden Myers Stickney and sisters Eleanor Cortwright, Mabel Gibbs and Shirley Mowers. A private interment will be held in San Antonio, TX at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
