Gertrude A. Ezzell's Obituary
Gertrude Ezzell, 100, of Richardson, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Appletree Court Assisted Living Center in Richardson where she resided for the last seven years.Gertrude was born on October 27, 1918, to Julius and Anna Brummer. Her parents were German immigrants who came to America for a better life and landed at Ellis Island prior to World War I.Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, whom she married just three days after her 18th birthday. They had a wonderful, happy life together. She is also preceded by a sister, Margaret Nothdurft.Gertrude had a great sense of humor. She loved animals, growing flowers, all things sweet, her church and an occasional Jim Beam. She was also a faithful follower of the Dallas Cowboys.Prior to moving to Richardson, Gertrude lived in Temple, Texas. Upon moving to Richardson, she met many special people at Appletree. Gertrude had many friends and loved to travel. She was gracious, polite, kind and appreciative of everyone. Gertrude was also smart, stubborn and fiercely independent.She is survived by: her daughter, Carol Keese of Richardson; her granddaughter, Stacy Laney of Dallas; her grandson, Spencer Laney of McKinney; and her great-grandchildren, Logan and Catelyn Laney of McKinney.Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019, at 12:30PM at the Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas. Gertrude will be laid to rest by her husband, parents and sister. A memorial service is planned for a later date in Richardson.Special love to all the staff and wonderful caregivers at Appletree Court. Mother’s private caregivers became a part of her family and she loved them all.
