Gilbert Melvin Oakley's Obituary
Gilbert was born in Dallas, Texas on August 17, 1933, and went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2023.
He is survived by daughter Jill Stinnett and husband Russell, son Todd Oakley, stepdaughter Karen Hobson and husband John, and stepdaughter Sandy Wang and husband Pete; grandchildren Garrett Barker and wife Jamie, Shawna Oakley, Trevor Oakley, Lyndsay Hobson, Tracy Gonzales and husband Travis, and Jordan Hobson and wife Undrea; great grandchildren Madelyn Barker, Sam Barker, Keith Barker, and Wyatt Gonzales.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents William Jasper and Ella Brown Oakley, sister Audie Lee Anderson, brothers Herschell Oakley and Doug Oakley, wife Peggy Oakley (1976) and wife Sara Oakley (2023).
The Bible says, “Let the lips of others praise you”. Gilbert was devoted to his ODBC family and always had a welcoming smile for members and visitors. He was a faithful servant to the Lord through words and actions.
