Gladys Brown's Obituary
Gladys Evelyn Owens Brown passed away in this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in Denton, TX. She was 96 years old.
Gladys was born on February 15, 1930, in Wilton, AR to Theodore Roosevelt “Ted” and Othia Celia Owens. On March 8, 1948, Gladys married Ralph Brown in Ashdown, AR. After she gave her heart to Jesus she fasted and prayed for her husband, dad and brothers. Of her six brothers, five became ministers and three of those brothers have at least one of their children in ministry. She herself was an ordained minister and her precious son Teddy was also a minister.
Gladys shared her lifelong love for Jesus with everyone. She loved and served her Savior and her family with all her heart, mind, soul and spirit. She loved to study just about anything. She loved studying the Bible and memorizing the scripture. She actually wore out a Daniel Webster Dictionary set studying. What might you ask? Words, of course! She loved studying music; perfect and imperfect intervals, half steps, whole steps, majors, minors, augments and the list goes on. She loved to cook and bake and made the best chocolate pies and yeast rolls in the world. Another “fond” memory the grandkids, cousins and 2nd cousins have is her trying to teach them how to play the piano when they visited.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Othia Owens, her beloved husband Ralph Brown and precious son Teddy Brown. Her single most desire when she got to Heaven was to see Jesus first and Teddy second.
She is survived by two brothers, Fred Owens and his wife Gloria of Bethel Acres, OK, Curtis Owens and his wife Barbara of Claremore, OK; her daughter Connie Black of Valley View, TX; two granddaughters Julie Brooker and her husband Guy of Keller, TX, Tonnie Brown and her husband Dave of Denton, TX; two grandsons Scottie Brown of Dallas, TX and Anthony Black and his wife Hannah of Valley View, TX; great Grandchildren Zoe, Mason and Parker Brown, Titus Black and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
She will be cremated at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX. A Memorial Celebration will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 11:00AM at New Life Church, 1350 Milam Rd, Sanger, TX 76266.
