Gladys Ellen Dietel's Obituary
DIETEL, GLADYS ELLEN age 97, of Corsicana, Texas passed away peacefully on January 28 at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village. She was born on February 5, 1914 in Cooper, Texas to her parents, James and Gracy. Gladys was the oldest of 6. She married Bernhard in Marlin, Texas on August 19, 1939. They had 2 children. She attended Sunset High School and graduated in 1932.She was a longtime resident of Dallas, Texas as a wife, mother and housewife for 47 years. Gladys was a member of the Lake Highlands Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, First United Methodist Church of Dawson, Texas, Methodist Women’s Group, Garden Club, Lake Highlands Garden Club, and Dawson Study Club. She enjoyed being a wife, mother, sister, and housewife along with antiques, gardening, and shopping. Gladys will be remembered by her loving husband and their children Edwin and Betty Dietel of Bethesda, MD; Margaret and Leon McLain of Dawson, TX. She is also survived by two grandchildren: Lindsay Spector and husband Dan of Bethesda, MD; John McLain of Dawson, TX; two great grandchildren: Will and Amelia Spector of Bethesda, MD, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband: B. H. Dietel; two brothers: Edd Stratton and J. R. Stratton; three sisters: Vera Sherrill, Margaret George, and Georgia Wills; two brothers-in-law: Homer Sherrill and Bill Wills; one sister-in-law: Faye Stratton. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service for Gladys at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, January 31 at Wildwood Chapel, Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery.
