Gladys Myers' Obituary
Gladys McKinney Myers, 86, bom January 15, 1929 passed away on November 20, 2015. She grew up on a small farm outside of Honey Grove, Texas. After graduating from Paris Junior College she began her career at First National Bank of Honey Grove. She married Don, her high school sweetheart in 1949. They moved to Dallas in 1951. Shortly thereafter, she began working at the Dallas Housing Authority until 1967. She retired from Remington Arms in 1991 and then joined her son, Larry, at the James A. Giesecke Company for the next 17 years. Gladys enjoyed entertaining friends and family, trips to Creed Colorado, singing in the choir, 42 and Saturday morning breakfast with friends. Gladys was a member of the Village Church – Dallas Northway since 1953. She faithfully served the Lord, throughout the years, on the hospitality committee, as a Sunday school teacher and Director, a choir member, on the WMU Women’s Ministry and numerous other committees. She truly had the gift of hospitality and a generous spirit. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, E. Don Myers, her parents I.W. and Nancy McKinney, 3 older sisters and 2 older brothers. She is survived by her son Larry Myers, his wife Jeni of Dallas, Texas and their grandson Aiden Johnson, her nephew Neil McKinney of Orlando, Florida and Niece Pat Warner of Dallas, Texas. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will take place at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Northway Baptist Church, 3877 Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas.
