Gladys Geneva Sherry's Obituary
Gladys Geneva Sherry was born June 6, 1923 to Albert and Dora Ryles and passed away November 15, 2009. She is survived by her husband, Ed Sherry; niece, Mildred and numerous other nieces and nephews. A 1941 graduate of Ethel High School in Mississippi, she worked for the US Government as an inspector for the US Navy in Ft. Worth and attended college for 2 years. She worked for the Corps. of Engineers for 2 years in Okinawa. The next 37 years she worked for Univac Corp and retired as an Accounting Supervisor. Almost 60 years ago, she met and married the love of her life, Ed. They loved their English Bulldogs, travel and in later life, made quick trips to Louisiana to play the slots. Gladys has been a loyal member of the Engelbert Humperdink Fan Club since 1969. A member of the Dallas Elks Lodge #71 Ladies, she served as Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary on the Telephone Committee. Until recently, Gladys worked with her special friends as a member of the Elks Lodge Monday Lunch Brunch. The Celebration of Life will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 20, 2009 at Restland Memorial Chapel with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dallas Elks Lodge 71, Elks National Foundation or the cancer charity of your choice.
