Gladys Lee Taylor, born on August 3, 1947, peacefully departed this world on June 2, 2025, to be with her Lord and Savior. A devoted wife, she shared a life of love and companionship with her beloved husband, Rodrick James Taylor, Sr. Her unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her every step and inspiring all who had the blessing of knowing her.
Gladys was cherished by her family, friends, and community. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she uplifted others with her wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering support. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen, heard, and loved, embodying grace and compassion in all that she did. Whether offering a comforting word, a warm embrace, or a helping hand, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around her.
Her love extended beyond her immediate family—she embraced her role as a mentor, friend, and confidante, always ready to share stories, laughter, and wisdom. Gladys took great joy in life's simple pleasures, from Sunday dinners surrounded by loved ones to the quiet moments spent in reflection and prayer. Her spirit shone brightly, lighting the way for others even in the darkest times.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Rodrick James Taylor, Sr., her sons, Billy Cole (Barbara) and Kirk Greer (Angela), her bonus sons, Roderick Taylor, Jr. (Christy), Todd Taylor (Lisa), & Shawn Taylor (Ashley), bonus daughter, Emma Wattley, sister, Dorothy Walton, her grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers and friends. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the lasting impact she leaves behind. Her faith, love, and kindness will continue to inspire us, and though she is no longer with us, her presence will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Gladys was preceded in death by her father, Tommy Gates, mother, Jewel Shrock, half-brother, Thomas Gates, and grandson, Billy Cole, Jr.
