Glenda Lee McCauley's Obituary
Glenda Lee Goforth McCauley (age 82) of Dallas, Texas was greeted by our Lord and Savior on December 3, 2025. She was born in Garland, Texas on March 11, 1943, to John Pate and Olive Louis Lee. She was the third born of five children, having three sisters and one brother. Raised in Garland, Glenda Nell graduated from Garland High School in 1961. Glenda was well liked by others, full of sass and had a great sense of humor. She had an inclusive personality and made friends with ease. At Garland High School, she was a cheerleader and voted Best All Round. After high school, a favorite memory and job she had was with Lorch Co. which was a women’s apparel manufacturer. She had an administrative role, but at times she got to take a turn at modeling. “Something very beautiful about those Lee girls,” was uttered more than once.
She married Tommy Goforth (Dr. Thomas Tucker Goforth) and together they had Lance Garland Goforth and Kimberly Ann Goforth. She was blessed with two more children with William Byron McCauley, and they had Cynthia Diana McCauley and John Bryron McCauley.
Glenda was a stay-at-home mom in her earlier years where she was involved in every activity in which her kids were involved. Her days were filled with toting her kids around as well as their friends to cheer practice, football practice, dance class, gymnastics, club meetings, the skating rink, church, the dentist, etc. If you were a friend at the house, Glenda treated you like one of her own. The rules applied to you too and chances are if you were a friend of one of her daughters, she just may have given you a perm. Whether it be sponsoring the cheer squads, sewing a dance costume or a prom dress, or providing drinks for the football team, she was ALL IN when it came to her kids.
Glenda dabbled in many hobbies. She took pottery classes, quilting, painted beautiful watercolor and oil paintings, sewed many dresses for her daughters’ dances and even went through a raising African violets phase. Rumor has it that one of her daughters came home mid-day and Glenda was in a leotard attempting a cartwheel on the tumbling mat. So, I guess we can add tumbling to that hobby list. One of her beloved memories was her bible study group with whom she remained lifetime friends.
In her later years, Glenda went back to work where she could utilize her multi-tasking skillset working as an Administrative Assistant in several industries. After retirement she had the pleasure of living with her daughter Cindy, and helping her raise her precious grandchildren, Jake and Addy. Spending time and loving on her 7 grandchildren was one of her greatest joys. Anytime she had all four of her children together, she would love to say, “Look at what I made…there is not an ugly one in the bunch.”
Glenda was a woman of beauty inside and out. She was a loyal friend who taught her kids to be kind and inclusive (and if you were not, she made sure you made it right). She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Known for her sense of humor, she delivered many one liners and retorts that triggered a room full of belly laughs. Glenda loved to visit and made everyone around her feel valued. She was always open and ready to listen, never with judgement but only love and acceptance. She loved Jesus, and we find comfort in knowing that He carried her to heaven. She now rests with a healthy heart at His feet. We know our Mom, Mama, Mamaw, Memaw and Grandma Glenda will always be with us.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise, her older sister Syble Lois and younger brother, Van Lee. She is survived by her older sister Charlene Neiman, and her younger sister, Johnnie Dickey, her four children Lance Goforth (Stephanie), Kim (Goforth) Roach Honea (Joel), Cindy Grant (Cary) and John McCauley (Tracy). Her grandchildren, Avery Wilkerson (Rhett), Campbell Goforth, Taber, Tanner and Tucker Roach, Addy and Jake Vernon (Miranda) and Carson McCauley, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
