Glenda Jean Steakley's Obituary
Funeral services for Glenda Steakley of Tool, Texas will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 12, 2021, at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp with her son, Mike Day, officiating. Interment to follow at Baker Cemetery.
Glenda was born on May 22, 1938, in Idabel, Oklahoma the daughter of the late E.M. and Dorothy Armistice Albers and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 9, 2021, at her residence. She was married to the love of her life, Ray Steakley, on December 18, 1975. Glenda retired from AT&T after over 30 years of dedicated and loyal service and was a member of the Cedar Creek Bible Church. After her retirement, she worked at Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral Home as a receptionist where her smile brought many families comfort during a difficult time. Mom loved her family and friends unconditionally and enjoyed the girl’s trips, family gatherings and any time spent with a friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Johnny Day, who passed in April 1973, the love of her life and her second husband, Ray Steakley, who passed on December 19, 2009, a grandson Jeffrey Reed, great grandson Morgan Ray Murrow, brother Butch Whittle, step-sons, Raymond and Jimmy Steakley as well as her best friend and partner in crime, Nelda King, all of whom met Mom in Heaven with open arms and happy smiles at being reunited.
Glenda is survived by her children: Carla Richards and her husband, David, of Kemp, Patty Reed and her husband, Terry, of Kemp, Diane Moore and her husband, Willie, of Enchanted Oaks, Bobby Day and his wife, Michelle, of Kemp, Mike Day and his wife, Lori, of Royse City, Mark Steakley and his fiancée, Kim, of Trinidad; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; a sister, Marilyn Baxter of Athens; brother, Gary Whittle and his wife, Brenda, of Glen Rose as well as a host of other friends and relatives that loved Glenda greatly and will cherish her memory always.
