Glenn Baker's Obituary
BAKER, GLENN Age 86, of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on April 27, 2011 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He was born May 26, 1924 in Soper, Oklahoma to parents, William and Stella Baker. The youngest of 8, he married Betty Jean Turner in Boswell, Oklahoma on June 28, 1947. He served on a submarine in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He began his career with the Dallas Morning News as a typographer, then began his own company, TradeType of Dallas. Member of White Rock United Methodist Church since 1965. He enjoyed hosting family reunions; gardening; Served as board member for the Dallas Association for Retarded Citizens, Int’l Typographers Assoc., Dallas Printing House Craftsmen Club, Printing Industries Assoc.; Boy Scout leader & Church Lay Leader. Editor/Writer/Publisher of both TX Chapter & Sam Dealy Chapter of Submarine Veterans of WWII newsletters. Glenn will be remembered by his loving wife, Betty and their 4 children Susan, Steven & wife Mary, Sandy, Sarah & husband Sheldon Sanders, & grandchildren Scott and Rachel Sanders; and a host of extended family. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Restland Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM at White Rock Methodist Church.
