Glenn Edward Olson's Obituary
Glenn Edward Olson was born February 7, 1920 in Jamestown, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 4, 2015 at the age of 94 from complications of Diabetes and Dementia. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed at various times on the USS Gillis the Aleutian Islands, and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. During his service in Hawaii, he met and married Marie Lindau in Honolulu while both were stationed there in the Navy. They raised one daughter, Carole Olson of Dallas. They also celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary just before Marie passed away in early 2002. Glenn retired from Braniff Airways after 30 years of service in Denver, Colorado and Dallas, Texas. He subsequently served 4 years with the Dallas County Community College District at the District service center. He will be remembered for his complete devotion to his wife and daughter and his Christian witness all of his life. He loved fishing, jigsaw puzzles and playing the harmonica. He shared these interests while working with the Royal Ambassadors at Royal Haven Baptist Church and later with the young people at Chapel Hill Methodist Church. He is survived by daughter, Carole Olson of Dallas, Texas; brother, Emory Olson of Jamestown, New York; nieces, Melanie Slocum and husband, Bruce of Grapevine, Texas and Michele Edmonds and husband, John of Littleton, Colorado as well as other nieces and nephews outside of the state of Texas. The visitation for Glenn Olson will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 6, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Glenn will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 3:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Farmers Branch, Texas or the charity of your choice.
