Glennia Joyce Smith's Obituary
Glennia Smith of Garland, TX passed away peacefully in Dallas, TX on October 16, 2018 at the age of 86.She was born to Ernest and Lola Thomas in Houston TX on February 8, 1932. She married the love of her life, the late Marvin Smith, on June 27, 1953.They remained happily married until Marvin’s passing in 2006.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin; her daughter, Teresa Guynes. She is survived by: son, Michael Smith and wife, Kay, son, Glenn Smith and wife, Karen, son, Richard Smith and wife, Dee. Grandchildren: Cynthia Smith, Richard Smith Jr., Joseph Guynes, Alison Smith, Kari Smith, and Katie Smith. Three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.As a wife and mother, she devoted her life to making sure that each and everyone was treated with love and compassion. Whether she was bowling in her league (265 high game) or making chili dogs at the Little League concession stand, she was always giving of herself to ensure her kids had what they needed. Her grandchildren then became the love of her life. She would make sure that she spoiled them until it was hard to get them to go home. Her love and compassion for everyone in her life was limitless. Even if she was struggling, she would find a way to help anyone in need. A three time cancer survivor, she never complained and continued life to serve others. All that knew her spoke only of her giving and caring for all who crossed her path. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and love for all.The family will receive friends and family from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Restland Cemetery.
