Celebrating the Life of Gloria Johns
December 18, 1962 – April 11, 2026
Gloria Johns, 63, of Forney, Texas, transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord on April 11, 2026, at Country View Nursing Home.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 18, 1962, Gloria gave her life to the Lord in her twenties and never looked back. Her faith became the foundation of her life. She was drawn to banking early on and worked in several areas within the field.
Later, after moving to Newton, Kansas, Gloria felt called into healthcare. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, she cared for her elderly patients with deep compassion, patience, and pride. She found joy in giving them the attention and dignity they deserved.
In 2009, she moved to Texas with her younger sister and continued her work in healthcare. Eventually, she returned to banking and relocated to Los Angeles, California. There, she reconnected with family and childhood friends, cherishing every moment.
Becoming a grandmother changed everything. Her love for her grandbabies pulled her heart back to Kansas, where she devoted herself to being present in their lives. Gloria adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment with them.
In 2023, Gloria was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
As her needs increased, she moved back to Texas to live with her younger sister, where she remained until the Lord called her home.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Johns Sr.; her mother, Ruby Lee Robinson; her sisters, Joyce Johns and Rita Rhodes; and her brother, Cornelius Bell.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Ajah McClain (Edwin); her two granddaughters, India and Zhane; her brothers, Alton Johns, Baltimore (Luana) Johns, and Earnest (Kathy) Johns Jr.; her sisters, Barbara (Larry) Lee and Sharon (Norris Sr.) Floyd; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Gloria will be remembered for her unwavering faith and deep love for her family. Her laughter, her jokes, and her heartfelt advice will live on in all who knew and loved her.
