Gloria "Jean" Millsap's Obituary
Gloria Jean Jones Millsap, devoted wife and loving mother, passed peacefully from this world into eternity with her Heavenly Father on March 25, 2021. She was born February 18, 1940, in Illinois to parents Georgia and Jack Jones. She was the middle child of three and is survived by her sister, Jackie and husband Richard Rosson of Longview and brother, Don and wife Lynne Jones of Edmond, Oklahoma. She began a relationship with God at youth camp and was a devoted follower of Christ throughout her life.
Jean met her husband and best friend, Ed, in high school and they were married 61 years before he passed away in October 2018. She was a wonderful mother, and she was happiest when spending time with her family. She is survived by her three children – Greg Millsap (Los Angeles), Pam and David Brown (Lake Highlands/Dallas) and Sherry and JD Prescott (Paradise). She was proud to be Memaw to two adoring grandchildren and four great grandchildren – Tyler and Lauren Brown with Olivia and Elliot (Dallas) and Erica and Brian Wall with Reagan and Sawyer (Houston). Her many dear nephews and nieces called her “Aunt Jeannie” and she always enjoyed the sweet family gatherings. What a legacy of love!
Jean and Ed traveled all over the world – France, Switzerland, England, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Italy and Hawaii to name some of their favorite spots. She worked administrative jobs early on to help put her husband through college and later on to help put her children through college. She was interested in various hobbies through the years including ceramics, sewing and Bible study, and she loved to cheer on the Mavericks and Cowboys.
Jean enjoyed the sweet fellowship of beloved friends through the ages from Spring Valley Baptist Church (Dallas), Hyde Park Baptist Church (Austin) and Park Cities Baptist Church (Dallas) with whom she served, traveled and played many rounds of Forty-Two.
She lived her last three years at The Forum and was blessed with dear friends and the kindness and care of a loving staff. Special thanks to Blessing, Maria, Glenda, Eboni, Yonas and the many others who brought joy to her daily life.
There will be a visitation on Monday, April 5, from 4:00-6:00pm and a graveside service on Tuesday, April 6, at 11:00am at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas 75243.
