Gloria Valadez Pina's Obituary
Pina, Gloria V. passed away Feb. 6, 2010, at age 83 after a courageous fight against cancer. Born May 25, 1926, in Onalaska, Texas. She lived most of her young life in the Huntsville area before marrying on Dec. 25, 1949, and moving to Dallas. She was primarily a homemaker but was also a day-care teacher, restaurant chef and short-order cook. She was a loving mom as well as kind and compassionate to others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonifacio Gonzales Pina, who passed away in 1987. She is survived by children, daughter Irma Mack and husband, Robert, and grandson Johnny Ray Partridge and wife Rosa; daughter Edna Bledsoe and husband Mark, and granddaughters Christine Berber and husband Mody, and Crystal Overs; and son Gary Pina and wife, Mary Jane, and grandchildren, Amie Fordan and husband Steve; Lisa Pina and Gary Timothy Pina and wife Joanna. Also 13 great grandchildren. She was first diagnosed with cancer in spring 2007 and her fight began. She got rid of some of it, but never all of it. In January, she entered a Denton hospital to get rid of a cancerous lymph node blocking her esophagus but her health declined before she could even begin treatments. She went home under hospice care to spend the final days with her family. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Restland Funeral Home, 9220 Restland Road. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the Memorial Chapel at Restland.
