Gloria Jean Winniford's Obituary
A Celebration of Life service for Gloria Jean “Sug” Winniford will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 1:00PM until 3:00 PM at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumby, Texas. Gloria Jean Winniford was born on February 13, 1942 in Floydada, Texas the daughter of the late Douglas Fairbanks and Eleanor Doris Parker Powell and left to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at her residence in Cumby surrounded by her loving husband and family. Gloria, known by her family and friends as “Sug” was married to the love of her life, Marvin Dewayne Winniford on June 11, 1960 in Irving, Texas. To this union, three beautiful children were born and she became the loving mother of Donna as well as twins Devy and Steve. After raising their wonderful children, she became a very talented Art Director and was employed by Freeman Decorating for several years as a convention art decorator. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Cumby for 15 years. Gloria enjoyed arts, crafts, painting, gardening, camping, flowers and the great outdoors and the wildlife it provided. A very devoted family person, Gloria enjoyed her time with her endearing family and will be missed by all that knew and loved her. One thing that she instilled in her family during her time of sickness was to “Rise Above It”. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Douglas and Eleanor Powell. Those left to cherish her loving memory include her loving husband of 54 years, Marvin Dewayne Winniford of Cumby, Texas, daughters Donna Winniford Davis of Cumby, Texas and Devy Winniford Bert of Cumby, Texas, son, Steve Winniford and his wife Kim of Bonham, Texas, granddaughters Katie Winniford and her fiance Stephen Schwark and Kelsie Winniford and her fiance Zach Keene, great granddaughter Emily Keene and great grandson Cannon Schwark, cousin, Donna Beth Bowers, step-mother Billie Powell, brothers-in-Iaws Sherwin Winniford and his spouse Elaine of Waco, Texas and Joe Winniford and his spouse Mary of Greenville, Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and relatives.
