Glynda Kaye Koonce's Obituary
Glynda Kaye Koonce was born on December 12, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to Grover and Linnie Koonce. The Lord called her home on May 14, 2026.
Glynda, or Kaye to those that grew up with her, worked in a workshop in Mexia, Texas, where she helped assemble Formica samples. She also lived in Tyler before moving to Alvarado, Texas.
She enjoyed going to church and singing hymns, working puzzles, playing Yahtzee, and listening to her radio. She loved shows like Hee Haw and the Christmas parades. Kaye had a huge heart and loved her family deeply. She always kept her purse full of photos, little notes she had us write down for her, and Band-Aids. She was truly loved by all, including her nursing home family. Kaye was always quick to offer a compliment, often telling people how much she liked what they were wearing. Whenever a nurse would leave at the end of a shift, she would tell them to be careful going home.
She loved to talk to her family on the phone, though it was never too long. She was always quick to say, "I'm going to hang up now." We all got tickled by that, and we will certainly miss those calls.
Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Linnie Koonce; her sister and brother-in-law, Lynda and Roy Long; and her niece, Sharon Long.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Koonce; and her nieces, Laurie Koonce, Susan Collier, and Laura Long-Edwards and her husband, Greg Edwards; her close cousin Lyn and her husband Dave Rogers.
Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[a] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
