Glynn Whitney's Obituary
Glynn Whitney finished his final walk in this world on Monday, July 26, 2021 in Mesquite, Texas. He was 68 years old.
Glynn was born in Herne Bay, England on January 13, 1953. He grew up in an Air Force family and spent his youth in England and Japan, and his teenage years in California and Texas. He attended Mesquite High School and graduated in 1971.
Glynn had a lifelong passion for art and music and loved to entertain his family with sketches and songs. He joined a band after high school and played and recorded in the Dallas area throughout the seventies. He spent much of his career working for the City of Dallas as a roofing supervisor. Glynn loved the outdoors and spent his free time traveling, camping, and exploring the United States, especially his beloved Texas.
He is survived by his daughter Sasha Hayes; his mother Rose Whitney; his granddaughter Ana Smith; his brother Dale Whitney; his sister Dawn Tomlinson; nieces Michelle Tomlinson and Stephanie McKee; nephews Waylon Whitney, Jason Tomlinson, and Michael Tomlinson; as well as many loving extended family members and grandnieces and grandnephews. He is pre-deceased by his wife Sylvia Killough and his father Holland Whitney.
Services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Restland Funeral Home's Abbey Chapel. Visitation begins at 1PM and services begin at 2PM.
Glynn will be missed by the countless people he touched throughout his life with his free spirit, infectious energy, sharp intellect, and warm sense of humor.
In remembrance of Glynn’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
