Gordan Edward Brin's Obituary
BRIN, GORDON EDWARD, age 83, died on June 16, 2007. A devoted husband and loving father, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Jean Meade Brin, and his children Steve & Judy Brin, Barbara Seabolt and Beverly Brin, all who live in the DFW area. His grandchildren, Greg & Ingrid Brin, Todd & Nicole Brin, Melanie & Todd Henning and Matthew Hewett will miss him dearly as will his 7 great-grandchildren, Nora Brin, Nolan Brin, Haley, Jacob, and Hannah Henning and Seth and Sally Hewett. Gordon was born in Dallas on Christmas Day, 1923, and spent most of his life in the Lakewood area. He and his wife, Betty Jean, were high school sweethearts at Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1941. He is a veteran of World War II and Korea where he served in the Philippine Islands. He attended Texas A & M and graduated from SMU with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for George Dahl and spent the rest of his career with Gaynor & Sirmen Engineers, working on such landmarks as the Dallas Convention Center, Dallas City Hall, UT Southwestern Medical School, and the LBJ Library in Austin. His sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye were especially endearing to everyone. Gordon was passionate about his family, work, photography, and boating. Deservingly, one of his colleagues once remarked, ‘Gordon is the most honest man I have ever known.’ His integrity was stellar, his commitment to family unwavering and his dedication to his career second to none. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Restland Memorial Park. The family will accept visitors at Restland Funeral Home, from 6:00 ‘ 8:00 pm Monday, June 18, 2007 and he will be laid to rest at Restland Memorial Park.
