Grace LaVerne Cooper's Obituary
COOPER, GRACE LAVERNE MCARDLE died April 28th at the age of 87. She was born January 28, 1926 to R M. McArdle and Wrennie Pettis McArdle in Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers in Houston. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, M.L (Bill) Cooper and her children: Sue, Catherine and Tom of Dallas, Catherine and husband John live in Bush, LA and have two daughters Megan and Whitney. Megan and her husband Marc and son Jayce live in Covington, LA. Whitney and husband Trent and daughter Lyla Grace live in Madisonville, LA. Tom and wife Vicki live in Henderson, NV. Tom has two daughters – Rita and Elizabeth Grace who live in Las Vegas, NV. Grace and Bill were married in Houston, TX on February 28, 1945. After the war she and Bill resided in Houston and after Bill’s employment by Humble Oil lived in several locations including Baytown, New Orleans, and Houston. She and Bill also lived in San Diego a short time after Bill’s recall by the Navy. They moved to Dallas in August 1961. Grace devoted her life to caring for her family and home. She worked a short period for Preston State Bank. Grace loved to paint and is the descendant of a noted artist H. A. McArdle who has several paintings located in the Senate chamber of the Texas Capitol. Grace loved and was devoted to her family who will miss her wonderful smile and love. She and Bill had many wonderful years in retirement visiting friends and relatives and traveling. She was a member of Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Dallas Chapter, 4144 North Central Expressway Suite 750, Dallas, TX 75204. .
