Grace Cruise's Obituary
Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and confidant who had a passion for her family unsurpassed. Her passion was clear and consistent. She loved her family, loved to grow intellectually and spiritually, reading, politics of the day, and music to name a few. Grace was born on January 27, 1924 to Rev. Timothy Peters and Alleyna Talley. She went to be with her LORD on May 25, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and two brothers. Brother Mouzon and Bill. Sisters Ted, Helen, Ruth, Wilmoth, Olive and her closest friend, Winnie. Her husband of 34 years, Bill Cruise, also awaits her. Grace is survived by her three children, Linda Callier, Nancy Parish and husband Rick, Larry Cruise and wife Katherine. Her first grandchild (and biggest fan), Stephanie Quillen and husband Jeff, Lauren Callier, Randy and Kristen Parish, and Timothy and Kaitlyn Cruise. She has five great grandchildren, Jessica, Claire,(her favorite singing companion), her newest, Blake (1yr), Lauren, and Rachel Quillen. She also has many wonderful nieces and nephews who have been bringing her joy for many years. Even out of state and Grace’s refusal to email, they were able to stay close and informed of each other. Grace was an executive secretary for many years. She has a very strong work ethic and sence of responsibility. Although she retired almost 20 years ago, her ex-boss’ wife, (he has passed) continues to express gratitude on her husband’s behalf several times per year. She inspires those around her. When praised, her humility was obvious. She was quick to joke, “Well I guess I’ve got you fooled!” Anyone would be hard pressed to find a soul who Grace could not befriend. She accepted people as they are without judgment. She could find something nice to say about everyone and they her. She will be greatly missed, forever loved. Her presence on earth has left a permanent mark on our lives. We will always strive to meet the calm, quiet, honest, and loving example she set for us. The service will include a visitation Wednesday, May 27 at Restland Funeral home from 6-8 P.M. There will be a brief ceremony and interment Thursday morning at 10:00 A.M. The memorial service is 1:00 on Thursday May 28, 2009 at Grace’s church of over 20 years. Buckingham united Methodist Church. In celebration of Grace’s life, pieces of the music she so dearly loved will be played in her honor. The service will be led by Rev. John Fleming and Rev. Dr. David Howeth. In lieu of flowers a donation to Buckingham united methodist church may be made in Grace’s name. BUMC 1212 W. Buckingham Rd. Garland, Tx 75040.
