Grady Raymond Moore's Obituary
GRADY RAYMOND MOORE, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, leader, volunteer, good Christian and great friend to many passed away the morning of Monday, the 13th of July 2015, at his home in Plano. He was 70. He recently had been diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumor. He never complained about his diagnosis and was a tough-minded and model patient throughout the surgery, radiation, and chemo-therapy as well as the recovery process. He had a wonderful and very full life, most of it spent with his beloved wife of 50 years, Jan, as well as his numerous children and grandchildren. Ray was born on the 9th of February 1945, to Thomas Hugh Moore and Clara Virginia Cope Moore in Hollis, Oklahoma. He spent his childhood primarily in West Texas & Southeastern Oklahoma residing in Hollis & Duncan Oklahoma, as well as Midland, Odessa, Pecos, Monahans, and Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1963. Following graduation, he worked for Whites Stores Inc. beginning in Clovis, New Mexico followed by new opportunities as Store Manager in Fort Collins, Colorado, Charleston, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1978, trying to get back to Texas, he then accepted a position with Exxon in Dallas, Texas. Following Exxon, he was the Operations Manager for Bering Sales in Dallas, Texas followed by a brief stint with Metroplex Welding Supply Company. It was in this role, that he found his true passion, sales. In 1987, he accepted a role as a Regional Sales Manager with Jackson Products Inc. based out of St. Louis, Missouri. He held many roles within Jackson including Western US Sales Manager, National Accounts Manager including responsibilities in Canada, Mexico and Brazil. In 2009, Jackson Products Inc. was acquired by the Kimberly Clark Corporation. He was instrumental in the transition following the acquisition. He enjoyed his time while at Kimberly Clark representing the Safety Division within the larger entity. Following a successful 26 year career representing safety products he retired in January 2013. Ray married Janice Raye Thompson on the 7th of May 1965 and is survived by her and their three children and 7 grandchildren; Patrick A. Moore and his wife Kathy, their children, Custis and Thompson, all of Plano; Melissa McDougal and her husband Mike, their children, Hudson and Harrison, all of Lubbock and Chad R. Moore and his wife Mona, their children, Presley, Jackson and Reagan all of Murphy. He is also survived by his brother Charles N. Moore and his wife Toni of Lufkin; his sisters-in-law Patti Faulkinberry of Lubbock and Sarah T. Tollett of Littlefield; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation is from six o’clock to eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 17th of July, at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville Avenue Dallas, TX 75243. A funeral service is to be conducted at ten-thirty in the morning on Saturday, the 18th of July, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 5801 W. Plano Parkway Plano, TX 75093, where Gerald Ware will officiate. Immediately following the funeral service, all are invited to join the family in a procession to the graveside service to be held at Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that donations in Honor of Ray Moore be directed to the JDRF Greater Dallas 9400 North Central Expressway, Suite 1201 Dallas, Texas 75231.
