Graham Lafayette Pierce, Jr.'s Obituary
Graham Lafayette Pierce, Jr. was born October 10, 1925 in Dallas, Texas. He lived in the Dallas area all his life until he went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2016. He was proud of being a 4th generation Texan. Graham graduated from Highland Park High School in 1942. He served his country proudly in the Navy as a doctor in a MASH unit in Korea. After returning from the war he graduated from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Galveston, Texas and from Southern Methodist University. He was preceded in death by his parents Mrs. Elizabeth (Weaver) and Graham Lafayette Pierce, his son-in-law Ronald Sheckels, and his first wife Ellen Lawther Pierce. They raised three daughters: Betsy Pierce Sheckels of Detroit, MI and sons Graham and Clay; Lynn Pierce West and husband George of Dallas and sons, George, Jr., Charles, William and wife Katie, and John; Patty Pierce Moody and husband Jim of Dallas and children Jason and wife Karen, Adam, Christopher and wife Jessika Jackson, Zach, Keeley Chorn and husband David Miller, Cameron Allison and husband Travis. He is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years Sue Thomas Pierce and their children and families: Kerry Carloy and son Christopher and wife Sierra, Margie Carloy Doerler and husband Wayne and daughters Emily Ellard Benson and husband Drew, and Sarah Ellard. He is also survived by his sister Eugenia Krause and husband Bob, his brother Rush Pierce and sister Patricia Ellington. He was known affectionately as Grahamdaddy to his many grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. It was a blessing to celebrate his 90th birthday with all his family. He was an obstetrician gynecologist for over 30 years in Farmers Branch. As a child he was a active member of Oak Lawn Methodist Church where his grandfather was the founding pastor. There he received his Eagle Scout Award. He always had the “little boy” in him which was exhibited through his collection and love of model trains. Graham could often be found doing his needlepoint that won many blue ribbons at the State Fair of Texas. There will be a graveside service for Graham Pierce at Restland Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Heart Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
