Granville Gray Murray's Obituary
Granville Gray Murray was born the son of a carpenter on September 14, 1940 in Farmerville Louisiana in Union Parish.
His father was L.D. Murray Sr. and mother was Beatrice Jones Murray.
Granville passed from this earth on December 30, 2025.
Granville is survived by his son, Jeffrey Murray of Magnolia, TX along with his wife Cara and his daughters Lauren, Leslie, and Lindsay and one granddaughter, Kennedy. He is also survived by a stepson James Blair, wife Vicki Blair, and his son and daughter, Brandon and Candace. Granville had one stepdaughter, Diane Porter who also survives him.
He also is survived by numerous friends, his caregiver Yolanda, her daughter Jalisa, and his friend and driver, Glenn Tatum. He had a long list of friends as Granville never met a stranger.
Granville was Baptized on Nov 21st 1993 at Cedar Cliff Baptist Church in Cedar Hill Texas. Granville was a good friend to several pastors and got to each one of them well.
Granville grew up and graduated from Camden High School in Camden Arkansas where he ended up residing after leaving Louisiana.
Granville and Gladys made a home together and lived at 1000 Townsend Lane Desoto Tx for many years.
Granville took a liking to Big Rigs and decided to drive for American Foods known later as Merico Inc. Granville won numerous safe driving awards and probably logged more miles than all his friends and relatives put together. After retiring from driving, he loved the trucking industry so much he started working in the “yard” loading the trucks for the new drivers coming in.
Granville loved the outdoors in his precious spare time and spent it fishing and hunting with his sons as often as he could.
After retiring, Granville and Gladys traveled with another couple seeing the world and visited several countries. After his wife’s passing, Granville finished his life out helping friends with whatever they needed. He was loved by so many.
Granville will be put to rest beside his wife Gladys at Restland Cemetery at 13005 Greenville Ave in North Dallas in the Garden of Trinity at 10:30 on Tuesday January 6th, 2026, which will be livestreamed here:https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/granville-gray-murray
Visitation will be Monday at Restland from 6-8pm.
Lunch and visitation after the Funeral will be at his home for anyone that can make it.
