Daiker, Gregory "Greg" Russell's Obituary
Greg Russell Daiker Sr., age 71, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on January 30, 2025. A loving father, grandfather, architect, and passionate soul, Greg’s impact on the world was both profound and lasting.
Born with an innate curiosity and a remarkable talent for design, Greg earned his Master’s in Architecture from the University of Arkansas, where he laid the foundation for a career that spanned decades and reached across the globe. He designed numerous hotels and residences, leaving his mark on skylines and communities worldwide; from Bali to St. Martin to Saudi Arabia. One of his most notable achievements was his design work on the New York World Trade Center Hotel, a testament to his vision and skill.
Greg’s passion for architecture was only matched by his love for good food, beautiful design, family, and the smooth sounds of Steely Dan. Whether he was at the drawing board or cooking up a meal in his kitchen, he brought creativity and joy to everything he did. His family remembers him fondly not just for his professional accomplishments, but for his warmth, bad jokes, and unwavering support.
He is survived by his sons, Greg Jr., Sam, Harris, and Jack; his daughter, Abby; his ex-wife, Kathy Richardson; daughter-in-law, Annie; and his beloved grandchildren, Charlie and Archie. Greg’s legacy of love, intellect, and design will live on through them.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in his honor.
Greg may have left this world, but his creations, his spirit, and his love for life will never be forgotten.
