Gregory Kent Terrill's Obituary
Gregory Terrill was born in Stephenville, TX on October 10, 1951, and passed away after a short, but severe respiratory illness on March 11, 2017 in Richardson, TX. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in Dallas where he was an honor student, starred on the football and track teams, and was a member of the Key Club. He attended the University of Texas in Austin. Greg was unique—truly one of those rare persons who was selfless in his care and concern for others. In his last years of living at Gladeside Ct., Dallas, Greg was dogged in the care of his aging parents night and day. When Marilyn was severely ill for several months in late 2014, Greg slept at the foot of her bed each night in order to take care of her in the middle of the night. Then he would gladly get up the next morning to fix Bruce’s breakfast. They had cared for him for many years; he considered it his privilege to care for them when they were older, and took pride in being their personal cook, valet, and nurse. After Bruce and Marilyn both moved to Assisted Living at Signature Pointe, Greg continued to come almost daily to cheer them up. When he couldn’t come, he would call each of them several times a day to alert them to the next football game or tennis match or to remind them of the next episode of NCIS or Dancing with the Stars. His sister will terribly miss his cheerful “hello Cynthia” when she called. Greg never failed to considerately ask about each member of her family and to tell her to say “hello” to them. Greg’s humor will also be greatly missed by his brother, Steve, and close friends and family. Many of the people at the Eldorado Retirement, where he lived his last year, will also miss him. Last summer the social director told his dad that he already knew the names of everyone there. He loved to greet them and ask about their families, often knowing the names of their children as well. With his great memory, he never failed to remember details about past special occasions. He loved family gatherings and events. He had been a good athlete in his youth and at 65 still took pleasure in demonstrating on the spur of the moment, when asked, his ability to do multiple push-ups and chin-ups. Greg’s unusual spirit of kindness and concern came through in his personality, in spite of his many years of being afflicted with a debilitating disease. He never allowed his illness to rob him of his delight and interest in his family and friends or to keep him down for long. He will be sorely missed by those who knew him best. Greg is survived by his mother, Marilyn Terrill of Dallas, his sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Dr. Weldon Guest of Houston, his brother Steven Terrill and wife Christa, of Dallas, and his nieces and nephew: Chris and Traci Terrill, Courtney Guest Kim, and Emilie Guest Wu, and their spouses, Dr. Tony Kim and Joshua Wu, and his three great-nieces and nephew. He is survived by his beloved children and their spouses: Kristin and Maury Tiller and Keith and Jennifer Robinson of the Dallas area, and six delightful grandchildren: Jackson, Julia, and Joseph Tiller, and Ava, Dillon, and Catherine Robinson, all of the Dallas area. Service for Greg will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017, a 3:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland . Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
