Gregory Wood
February 18, 1941 – April 23, 2025
Gregory Wood, a beloved husband, father, and friend, has passed away on April 23, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in Dallas, Texas, to H.R. and Katie Wood, Greg was a man who cherished his family and lived life to the fullest.
Greg married the love of his life, Jo, on September 1, 1972, a date that coincided with the opening of dove season, a testament to his passion for hunting, and his love for Jo. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Their union was blessed with three children: Alan, Chet, and Alecia, who were the pride and joy of Greg's life.
A man of ingenuity and creativity, Greg was known for his fix-it-yourself attitude. He took great pride in solving problems and creating solutions, always finding a way to make things work. Whether it was making a repair on his home, fixing a vehicle, or tackling any other project, Greg had an incredible knack for mending almost anything.
His love for hunting was matched only by his love for his family, and he spent many happy days in the great outdoors, sharing his passion with those he loved.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, H.R. and Katie Wood.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Wood; his children, Alan Wood, Chet Wood and his wife, Sarah, and Alecia Butler and her husband, Tim; his beloved grandchildren, Tucker, Ella, and Grayson; his sisters, Diana Green, and Cindy Neel and her husband, Keith; and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Greg's legacy is one of love, dedication, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering love for his family, and resourceful nature.
An open visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 8th, 2025 at Restland Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9th, 2025 in Restland Funeral Home's Wildwood Chapel at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243; with interment to follow services at 2:30 p.m. at Cedarlawn Memorial Park at 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, TX 75090.
