Gretchen Leigh Wadsworth's Obituary
WADSWORTH, GRETCHEN LEIGH completed her journey to be with the Lord on November 9, 2012 after complications from a prolonged childhood illness. She was a lifetime Richardson resident and graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1991 Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree and in 1995 with a Master of Science Degree in Education of the Hearing Impaired. She was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society at Texas Woman’s University. Gretchen, 43, was a special education teacher who touched the lives of many students and helped those with special needs achieve a higher level of personal self-sufficiency and success in school and community. She enjoyed playing the piano and doing volunteer work for Meals on Wheels. Gretchen is survived by her mother, Janet Hunter and her husband Bill and his family, her father, Howard Wadsworth and his wife Yvonne, her brother, Wil Wadsworth and his wife Julie, and her grandmother, Kathryn Wadsworth. She is also survived by a nephew, Garrett Wadsworth, a niece, Brianna Callahan, uncles, Craig Wadsworth and his wife Ruth, Paul Schmidt and his wife Susan, and Jim Wadsworth and his wife Janeen, and cousins, Rachel Wadsworth and Stuart and Lindsey Schmidt. A celebration of Gretchen’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 1210 West Beltline Road, Richardson, TX 75080. There was a special place in Gretchen’s heart for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and she faithfully supported St. Jude’s mission. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in Gretchen’s name to St. Jude (800-822-6344, tribute number 31869173) and to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (972-234-8804).
