Grieg Alan Olson passed away peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Betty Olson; son, Alan Stuart Olson of Fairfax, VA; and daughter, Jamie Lynn Water Read Obituary
Grieg and I worked together for ten years @ NG and in a group of really brainy people, Grieg definitely stood out. It wasn't his intellect that caught my attention, but the quiet, reserved manner in which he broke problems into their smallest components and methodically solved them in a way that would cause a super-computer to glitch. Grieg was never seemed rushed; his hallmark was just constant progress, -until the next challenge came his way.
He and I shared a passion for astrophotography and had many great discussions on the subject. On the my final day before retiring two years ago, I made it a point to make his office my last stop and my final goodbye.
I just found out about his passing and like everyone else that knew him, I'm devastated. Our loss is Heaven's gain. RIP my friend and my most heart-felt condolences to his family.
There are too many memories of Grieg. We spent so much time together as children. We played so many games - Stratego, Risk, Battleship, and Gin Rummy. He always had the hope of beating me at Gin Rummy. I was usually the only girl in the mix with the 4 Olson cousins and my brother.
There are special memories of time at the family farm in northern Minnesota and the lake cabin that our family rented in Wisconsin.
I’ve known Grieg all but 3 days of my life. I will truly miss him. I have comfort knowing that he is in the living presence of our Lord and Savior.
