Guadalupe Mejia Munoz's Obituary
Born February 10, 1935 in Matamoros, Mexico and passed away on January 24, 2009, in Richardson, TX. He retired from El Fenix restaurant after working for 37 years in which time he worked his way up to executive chef. He liked to travel and be around his family and grand kids. He has died peacefully after a long battle with diabetes. Guadalupe was married to Olivia Alanis Munoz on December 7, 1961. The marriage was witnessed by Esteban and Delores Salazar. He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Munoz Mejia (Nov. 1976), and mother, Ma de Jesus Mejia Munoz, by son, Alexander “Cando” Munoz (May 23, 1999), daughter, Belinda Villa (March 8, 2007), brother, Pedro Mejia Munoz (Feb. 3, 2007). He is survived by his wife, Olivia Alanis Munoz; daughter, Mary Kendall and husband, George of Allen, TX. Survived by son, Joe L. Munoz and wife, Rosario of Grand Prairie; daughter, Maricela Helliwell of Garland,; son, Mario A. Munoz and wife, Mayra of Garland; son, Robert M. Munoz and wife, Tiffany of Wylie; daughter-in-law, Anna Munoz of California; 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren,a half sister, Oralia Hinojosa, and brother, Juan Mejia Munoz of Dallas, as well as, a host of nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 27, starting at 6:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm. Service will be held at Restland’s Wildwood Chapel on Wednesday, January 28, at 10:00am.
