Gwenda Lynn McKee's Obituary
Gwenda Lynn McKee, 78, of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born to Max Merrill Greer and Elizabeth Greer, on July 17, 1943 in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1961, then attended Austin College where she received a degree in Biochemistry. She then went to San Francisco State University where she received a masters degree. While in San Francisco she met her husband Micheal McKee. They got married and returned to Dallas in 1979 with their three children. Gwen worked as the blood bank manager for Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas for more than 30 years before retiring.
She was an avid sewer and loved to cross stitch. In retirement she travelled to many of her bucket list destinations and enjoyed every one of them. Gwen was always up for an adventure and was not scared to try anything new. With her big heart, a ready smile, and a great sense of humor, she lived life to the fullest. She had a special place in her heart for her granddaughters who could always count on their GG for, well, anything they asked for.
Gwen is survived by her son, Lance McKee, daughters Elizabeth Devaney and Sandra Shambarger, son-in-laws, Jamie Devaney and James Shambarger, granddaughters Zooey, Rowan and Sawyer Devaney, stepson Micheal McKee, and stepdaughter Michelle Rushton. She was preceded in death by her husband Micheal McKee, sister Sandra Greer, and brother Merrill Greer.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday September 19, 2021 at 2:00 at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 1:00 prior to the service. Graveside service will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
