Gwendolyn Bea Embler's Obituary
Gwendolyn Bea Embler passed away March 2026 in Dallas, Texas. She was born September 25, 1959 in Dallas to Ralph and Peggy Embler.
Gwen was an amazing person and accomplished many things throughout her lifetime. An avid athlete, she won the state of Texas women's weight lifting competition for dead-lifting. She taught gymnastics and led the Flying W's to Nationals. She was an advanced aerobics instructor and participated in aerobics events and performed around Dallas. From high school on she ran competitively. Gwen was on the cover of Runner Magazine. She was the subject of a special report for 4 Country Reporter, and Good Morning Texas. For many years she worked for Cradle Pictures/FirstFoto photographing many thousands of babies at Medical City Hospital. After the death of her husband, she raised 3 children on her own and managed to go to University and earn her degree all while maintaining membership in Phi Beta Kappa graduating with honors. Gwen went on to work for the Department of Homeland Security as a Federal Immigration Officer for 15 years. Most amazingly she accomplished so much in her life all while going blind. Gwen always exuded positivity, always had hope, always had her faith. She loved her family, friends, her church, and Jesus Christ.
Gwen is survived by her three children Timothy, Brandon, and Marisa Keown. Grandchildren William and Kyla Keown. Sister Jane Jordan. To know Gwen is to Love Gwen. She was generous, supportive, motivational, giving, loving, strong, determined, confident, kind, independent, a fighter, patriotic, inspirational, charismatic, charming, daring and unafraid. Gwen was truly beautiful inside and out. She walked by her faith not her sight, a devout Christian.
