Gwin Don Edwards' Obituary
Gwin Don Edwards, a longtime resident of Richardson, passed away early Wednesday, May 11, 2016, due to medical complications. He had been hospitalized in Richardson Methodist Hospital since suffering a stroke on April 29. He was 74. G. Don, was born in Brownfield, Texas, on August 14, 1941, to Olen and Vada Edwards. He was the oldest of four children, growing up on his father’s farm near Plains, Texas. He married Elizabeth Ann Taylor on August 25, 1961, and they had three children. G. Don graduated from Texas Tech University in August 1963 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He and Elizabeth then moved to Richardson where he worked for several local companies and eventually retired from HDR in December 2010. G. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He also served as Deacon at Northrich Baptist Church and Crestview Baptist Church and Elder at Central Park Church and Cornerstone Family Church. G. Don helped many, many people during his life, always willing to listen and lend a hand. G. Don is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Teresa Sue Edwards. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth; his older daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Sam Roybal; his daughter Pam Edwards; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Olivia Edwards; his four granddaughters, Felice and Victoria Roybal and Valerie and Heather Edwards; his great-granddaughter, Evelyn Gonzalez; his brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Kristi Edwards; and his sister and brother-in-law, LaVern and Jonathan Watters. Services will be held for Gwin Don on Friday, May 13, 3:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
