H. Dawson Wells, Jr.'s Obituary
WELLS Jr., H. Dawson, 87 of Rowlett passed away on February 5, 2019. He was born in Caruthersville, Missouri to H. Dawson Wells Sr. and Mary Elizabeth. He grew up in Hayti working in his dad’s pharmacy as a soda-jerk. After graduating from Hayti High School as Valedictorian in 1949, he received his BA from SMU in History. Because he was an avid student he attended numerous universities for 2 ½ years before enlisting in OCS with the Navy where he was a LTJG. He had a distinguished career with Southwestern Life for 32 years. He loved to tell jokes, keeping up with the family, enjoyed cooking, music, traveling, eating and toddy time.He is survived by his wife Areva “Vet” of 43 years. Children daughter Marla Wells McCaffrey of Dallas, son H. Dawson Wells III and wife Candace of Garland, daughter Teri Wells Potts and husband Bill of Mount Pleasant. Step-children daughter Terrie McKee Runnels and husband John of Pittsburg, son Rickie McKee and wife Becky of Garland, son Ronnie McKee of Little Rock, Arkansas, daughter Valerie McKee Bell and husband Todd of Rockwall. He had 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2:30 PM in the Memorial Chapel At Restland Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Happy Hill Farm https://www.happyhillfarm.org/ or charity of your choice.
