Harold Vern "Hal" Carlson's Obituary
CARLSON, Harold Vern ("Hal") Harold Vern ("Hal") Carlson, 94, died on January 23, 2021 after complications from a brain tumor. He fought until the very end. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Carlson, his son, Gary Carlson, his father, Herman Carlson (who immigrated at the age of 14 from Olso, Norway as a stowaway on a ship headed to Seattle, Washington), his mother, Edna Olson Carlson, his brother, Raymond Carlson and his sisters Lorraine, Corky and Lillian. Survived by his children, Linda Clark (Dale), Hal Carlson (Stephanie), Diana Ackerman (Randy), Darlene Carlson Fletcher and Tim Carlson, Harold's brother Chuck Carlson and his sister Sally Wright, his grandchildren Calvin Clark, Deena Clark Robinson, Kristin Carlson Howell, Clayton Carlson, Haley Carlson Taylor, Alexander Fletcher, Greyson Ackerman, Parker Ackerman Gutjahr, Kimberly Carlson Richards and April Carlson Turnipseed, 14 great grandchildren with 3 more expected in 2021. Hal was born on October 14, 1926 in Issaquah, Washington. He joined the Navy at the age of 18 during WW ll and fought for his country. After the Navy, he married Dorothy Wright and had his six children. Hal moved his family to what he often referred to as the "Great State of Texas". He transferred to Dallas with his family as Vice President of the Titche Goettinger (Titches) company and was instrumental in the expansion of stores opened at Preston Forest and Northpark Mall. He was a vibrant and gentle man who loved nothing more that barbecuing on a hot Texas summer day and looked forward to grilling a turkey burger, eating corn on the cob and fresh homemade strawberry shortcake by the pool with his family. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, Elvis Presley, horse racing and never missed watching the Kentucky Derby!!! He had a zest for life and enjoyed every single day of his 94 years!!! He was man of great integrity and his family will miss him every day!
