Harold Eugene Clark's Obituary
Harold Eugene Clark, 95, of Dallas, born August 29, 1924 in Joshua, TX to Jim and Beatrice Clark, passed away December 30, 2019 in Dallas, TX. Harold’s father passed away when he was 11 years old and he was one of the youngest people in the State of Texas to obtain a hardship drivers license in order to support his family delivering ice and newspapers. He eventually became a master mechanic and owned a local garage before being called to serve in the Navy. He served honorably in the Navy on a ship, the USS Washburn, during WWII in the Pacific, returning home in 1946 at the end of WWII. He married his loving wife, Jean, in 1948 and they celebrated 71 years of marriage this year. He worked his entire career in the food business, working over 25 years for American Bakeries and over 20 years in the food brokerage business for Glazier Foods/Marketing Specialists until his retirement. Harold received numerous sales awards and recognitions. His business relationships, partnerships, and co-workers remained close to him to this day. Following his WWII service, Harold also was a football and basketball referee in the North Texas Area. He was a well-known and respected official who was in high demand throughout his career. Harold was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, sportsman, and camper. He especially enjoyed deer hunting with family and friends, even until his late 80’s. He and his wife spent many days camping and traveling in their RV. Their “camping buddies” remain close to them to this day and visited often. Harold and Jean were long time members of the Pleasant Mound United Methodist Church in Dallas, where he was a long-time trustee. His service, volunteer, and facilities work at this church were so legendary that service award was created in his name and awarded annually. He and his family has been blessed by Harold’s many friends and neighbors who cheerfully helped sustain him in recent years. Jean was his primary care giver and was by his side at all times. He is survived by his wife, Jean of Dallas; son, Craig Clark and his wife, Donna of Houston, TX; Granddaughter, Susan Del Broccolo and her husband, Vincentof Katy, TX; grandson, Jared Clark of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren: Charlotte and Lorelai Broccolo of Katy TX and Dean Clark of Houston, TX. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 4-6 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, January 6, 2020 at 11 am at Restland’s Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Restland Memorial Park. This American hero and Christian soldier was an outstanding businessman, friend, son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. To God goes the glory and thanks for Harold’s wonderful and amazing life.
