Harold Lindy Grant's Obituary
GRANT, HAROLD LINDY, a humble Oklahoma farm boy, moved on to greener pastures on August 22, 2013. As the eighth of ten children, he was born on January 18, 1929, in a rural area of Southwestern Oklahoma. Harold was proud of his service in the US Navy immediately after WWII and during the Korean War. He was stationed in California serving as an instructor in submarine school. Many interesting tales stem from his leading oil exploration teams in Guatemala and Columbia in the 1950s. He also worked for the Texas Highway Department and retired from KAS Construction Company in Richardson. He cherished his wife, Connie, and was proud of his sons and grandchildren. Harold was an active participant in his church throughout his life. He was known as “Mr. Dallas Cup” for his work with Hospitality House for the Dallas Cup Soccer Tournament. He loved to sing with the Goldenaires Choir and Men’s Chorus at First Baptist Church Richardson. The highlight of Harold’s week was being able to share in worship on Sunday morning with his much loved church family, especially during the last year. Seeing people smile was his pleasure, and he entertained by playing his harmonica and telling the stories of his life. Preceded in death by his father – Angus Herbert Grant; mother – Etta Pearl Anderson Grant; stepmothers – Bessie Stinchcomb Grant and Hattie Smith Grant; sisters – Geneva Collins, Ethel Morrow, and Gladys Strickland; and brothers – US Grant, Charles Grant, Herbert Grant, and Alton Grant. Survived by his wife – Connie King Grant; sons – David, John, and Paul; grandchildren – Heather, Caitlin, and Nathaniel; and sisters – Reta Crawford and Dortha Rollins.
