Harold "Hal" Henson Walker's Obituary
WALKER, HAROLD “HAL” HENSON, SR. passed away November 1, 2012, in Dallas, Texas following a lengthy illness. He was born January 25, 1923 in Howe, Texas to Arvel Walker and Myra Davis Walker. Hal was preceded in death by his son, Harold H. Walker, Jr. He graduated from Sherman High School and Austin College. Hal is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bettye; son, Blake and wife Karen; daughter, Vickie Walker Spearman and husband, Jim; sister, Ann Walker Norris; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous friends. Following his military service in World War II, he began his business career at Dunn & Bradstreet and later served as a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He then worked in the mechanical engineering field and ultimately co-founded Collins Walker, Incorporated., where he later retired in 1992. During his retirement, Hal enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and many friends. He liked traveling, sports, and was an avid golfer. Hal was active in Central Christian Church, where he served as Chairman of the Board, an Elder and President of the Shank Class. In 1982, he was chosen as the recipient of the prestigious Shank Class Award for his service and dedication to Central Christian Church. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10:00 AM on Monday, November 5th at Restland Memorial Park, with a Celebration of Hal’s life following at 11:30 AM at Central Christian Church, 4711 Westside Drive, Dallas, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church.
