Harold Jay Johnson Jr.'s Obituary
Harold Jay Johnson, Jr., age 74, a resident of Rowlett, Texas, passed away on November 3, 2020. He was born on November 2, 1946 to parents Harold Jay Johnson, Sr. and Lillian Vogt Johnson in Des Moines, Iowa. He married Peggy Hull on December 12, 2012 in Rowlett, Texas.
Harold was a microbiologist, who worked in hospitals and as a researcher. He played football at Penn State in the early 1960’s. He was also a member of the American Kennel Club. Having been a lifelong owner and handler of Greyhounds, Whippets and Great Danes, which he showed in AKC Dog Shows. He is survived by his beloved dog, Jeffery Jay Whippet.
Harold served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1970. He was a Sniper and Airborne Ranger, receiving a Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, and was a POW.
Harold is survived by his wife, Peggy Johnson of Rowlett, Texas. His two sons, H. Jay Johnson III and wife Lisa (Okinawa, Japan); Darrell Dwayne Johnson and wife Jennifer (Dallas, Texas); and 3 stepchildren of Dallas, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
