Harold "Jim" Lemmon's Obituary
Harold J. (Jim) Lemmon was born at Lansing, Michigan, August 17, 1924 of parents Harold E. and Amy M. Lemmon, and died 8-13-18. Jim, as he was known, graduated from Bath, Michigan High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Air Force during WWII where he became an Air Force Pilot and flew 142 hours of combat in Italy. After the war he was stationed in Dallas, Texas where he met and was married to Doris E. Tolleson for 58 years who preceded him in death July 9, 2004. His daughter Laura Moore also preceded him in death in February of 2016. Jim graduated from Michigan State University and returned to Texas where he was re-called to the Korean War with the rank of Captain. After the Korean War Jim pioneered a new business idea manufacturing built-in home Radio-Intercom Systems, central vacuum systems and stereo speaker systems under the brand name Music & Sound Inc. Jim and Doris owned and managed the business for 34 years and employed 200 people before selling it to a listed NY Stock Exchange Company in 1982. In 1987 Jim became Potentate of Hella Shrine Temple where he recently served as Recorder. In 1990 he successfully started another radio-intercom company, Audio Technology Inc. that he owned until the year 2000 when he retired to his avocation as a certified Travel Agent.Jim wore many hats: husband, father, grandfather, military and that of Potentate of Hella Shrine Temple. Another hat he wore well was that of benefactor. Many lives have been touched by Jim’s generosity.Harold (Jim) Lemmon is survived by his wife Myrt Keahey Lemmon, granddaughter LaRona Moore, and nephew Barry L. Lawrence, grandnephew Ty Lawrence also stepson Eric Keahey and wife Christy, step grandson Justin Keahey and wife Jocelyn, step granddaughter Karlie Sneed and husband Ryan and sister in-law Sandra Tolleson, plus a multitude of friends.Jim will have a private family burial with a memorial service at a later date.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Jim’s name to Hella Shrine Temple 2121 Rowlett Road Garland, TX 75043 or charity of your choice.Funeral arrangements for Mr. Lemmon have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
