Harriet M. Herndon's Obituary
Harriet McCall Herndon of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday at age 88. Born in 1927, in Dallas to Harry and Beryl McCall, she grew up in University Park and attended Highland Park High School and SMU. In 1946 she was an editor of SMU yearbook “The Rotunda” alongside her lifelong friend Martha LeVelle and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. While at SMU she met her husband, Rodney Herndon to whom she was happily married for 35 years until his death in 1985. Harriet is survived by her two children, Cindy Herndon Bashaw and Thomas Herndon, and their spouses, Robert Bashaw and Mike Hineman. She was a devoted grandmother to her two grandsons, Michael Herndon and his family, Amanda Herndon, Leala and Luke, and Joey Costello and his family, Hailey Costello and Ashton. She attended Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church for 42 years. She is a past President of the Dallas Assistance League and volunteered at their retail consignment shop, PrimeTime Treasures from 1987 to 1995. A memorial service for Harriet Herndon will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Northpark Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to “The Reverse Food Truck” which seeks to reduce food insecurities in Dallas, Northpark Presbyterian Church, 9555 N. Central Expressway, Dallas, Texas 75231.
