Prayers for Doug, Jim and Molly and all the Crosby family. Always fond memories of Mr and Mrs Crosby.
Warmest Regards,
Michelle Gribble Wright.
Uncle Harry was my mom Phyllis’ brother-in-law. She and Lois were sisters who despite living far away from each other (us in Tennessee, the Crosby’s in Texas) made sure that we had annual get-togethers at either of our houses or, more often, at my grandparents’ house in Charleston, West Virginia where Phyllis, Lois and Harry grew up. Many of my best childhood memories were from these trips with Doug, Jim and Mollie. When I was around seven, I flew by myself to Richardson, a rare treat as the youngest of four girls, and got to be part of the Crosby family for a week. I remember being surprised that Uncle Harry was so involved with my cousins and me. Instead of leaving us alone to play, Uncle Harry engaged with us kids. He always had a joke, talked directly to me and imparted “words of wisdom” that often left me chuckling. Harry was fun to be around.
Looking back over sixty years, what leaves a deep impression is how Harry and Lois stayed connected to family and friends. They made the effort to know my children, nieces and even grandchildren. After one visit, my niece Cari commented that Harry and Lois’s enduring relationship and commitment to family was what she hoped for. I share her admiration and aspiration! When I was with Uncle Harry, I expected to be cheered. While most of his stories ended with a funny punch line, some were deep and meaningful, like his experience teaching wood carving to kids on the Hopi Nation or the importance of faith in God. Living his life filled with family and friends, Harry Crosby leaves me memories of his kindness, his humor, his zest for life and his love for others.
Harry,my" favorite cousin" and Lois just as special what fun we had in years gone by Harry the "big tease" full of life, kind and caring spirit what an example Harry and Lois of love given to their family. I will miss our telephone conversations gone but not forgotten. May his soul rest in peace God's light shine upon him. Frances
I remember the "pop up camper". Harry and Lois visited Richland, WA around 1965 with the kids. Doug and Jim and I slept in the camper parked in our backyard. We had a great time boating on the Columbia River which was right across the street from our house. Great memory! Rest in peace Harry, from Max Rees Jr.
